The movie is a tale of sex, love, couture, friendship, forgiveness and the possibility of a modern- day fairytale ending, as told through the eyes of four NYC women. The Sex and the City movie is an adaptation of the HBO hit series which itself was based on the book by Candace Bushnell about real life romances and heartbreaks in New York City.
Miranda is so swept up with her home, career and social life that she has put love on the back burner. She suddenly realizes that the flame has fizzled out of her marriage when husband Steve Brady (David Eigenberg) complains that they have not had sex in over six months and confesses that he had affair. A devastated and raging Miranda separates from him and moves out of their Brooklyn home to a Manhattan apartment.
They return to New York, and back to their lives. Carrie hires a personal assistant named Louise from St. Louis (Jennifer Hudson) who moved to the city, after a terrible break up, seeking love and labels. Louis helps Carrie get organized and get back on her feet.
Carrie had severed all communication after being left standing at the alter by tossing her phone in the ocean and deleting and blocking his e-mail. But she finds dozens of love letters in e-mails her assistant saved in case she changed her mind. The letters quote excerpts from a book she showed him once called “Love Letters of Great Men†and culminate with one of his own. And a chance meeting, leaves room for a new chapter in their love story.
